Sheng would often sit in her normal eating chair watching the sun slowly move as it sent it's rays through the refracting glass painting pictures for Sheng's eyes, right about now and think about how if she had any talent she would have loved to be an artist and repaint all the visions she saw just sitting there in the dining hall watching the sun paint on the hall floor. Alas, she had promised to meet up with Avira and be given a small surprise.
Back at the gazebo, Sheng was pulled up onto the dance floor and Avira shook her head the entire way. Sheng felt so awkward there for she knew not what to do, but all her friends began twirling around her in their ballet uniforms of blacks and whites. Sheng was determined to do something at the least, so she began twirling with them as the tears flew from her face and eventually stopped falling altogether because laughter had taken their place. Then they all lifted her into the air and spun her around, and she wanted the moment to last forever, but often with such moments they are either halted or shattered by someone in a position of power or sometimes even a stranger.
A slow clapping started and the women began to see that there was indeed a stranger in their midst. His mouth was chewing and one of the servants saw right away he had been there long enough to begin munching on the spread of food at least three dishes of crackers, cheese, and bread had been touched.
"Splendid. Bravo." He said with an accent Sheng had heard, but only a few times.
Sheng looked into his eyes and saw a brutishness she had never seen before. It was not quite something she could explain yet. She then remembered that she had seen it before, in the eyes of some soldiers, but she was still unsure of what it was. He had an almost golden radiance to him, though with a tan that exposed that he was not from their land or he was a peasant of some kind and it wasn't just that the sun was shining down on his helmet reflecting sunbeams into the gazebo. He was dressed with a steel breastplate of armor on his chest and she found that he had a dagger stashed in his belt. His legs were crossed sporting a nice pair of red and blue pants that were hideous to some standards of fair in their land. It registered to her that these were the type of pants she saw on sentries from a different land, so it registered to her that he was a soldier of some sort, but given that he hadn't a sword he was not a very successful soldier. Swords made the man, whereas daggers were often weapons not of choice but of necessity and sometimes considered a womanly weapon.
He smiled at all of the women individually and then rose and bowed. The women all bunched up together, most of them trying to hide their exposed bodies before such a foreign uninvited visitor.
He then moved forward and kneeled before Avira, kissing her hand as he said. "I come to see the queen."
Avira pulled her hand away. "I fear you are mistaken, my Lord, I am not she, for she is much fairer than ever I could dream to be."
"Oh then I beg your pardon madame, then I would like to find her."
Sheng was unsure of herself, but she stepped forward trying to take command of the situation as a princess and as the daughter of the queen. "What is it that you need?"
"I apologize but I cannot tell my news to servants. If the queen is not here..."
"How dare you!" Sheng wasn't quite sure what he meant, but Avira was quick to defend her.
"This is no servant, this is the beautiful lady Sheng, who is the current heir to the throne, the daughter of the queen, and you shall address her as 'your Majesty' and nothing else. You shall also bite your tongue and wait for her to speak to you. My lady let this man be given what he deserve."
"And what is it that I deserve?" At this point he stood in disbelief.
"Why have you ceased kneeling?"
"I am confused. Which of you ladies is the Princess?" He looked around inquiring as if earnestly searching.
"If you know that the princess is in your midst does it matter who it is? Your knees should still be bonded to the ground."
"Prove it, and I shall bow before her. For now I see that I am in the midst of servants and damsels. I think I shall take my leave."
"No!" Sheng stepped forward to take charge. Actually she didn't know but Avira had guided her forward with her finger. "You shall bow before the Princess or not see the Queen."
He chuckled, then looked over and spotted the youngest damsel there and winked at her. She jumped from fright and hid behind all of them. The rest of the ladies began wincing and scowling at him despite their fright of him. He was taller than the lot of them, and many were scared of his dagger, but they did not back down for fear that a fight might commence and that they then would have to protect their mistress.
"If there is a Princess in this midst then let her come out."
"I am the Princess." Sheng pressed a step forward more to confirm herself as the princess. Her knees shook like the earth, and her hands wrestled themselves behind her back, as her stomach began flapping around like the tail of a stallion.
"Then take to me to see the queen, otherwise then I shall never have proof that you are not. For I am not some silly servant or savage peasant, I am of pureblood and noble prestige, I bow only before kings and queens and no one else, whether whatever stature or look they may have to their eyes."
"Then ye shall never be blessed to see my fair mother the queen. Off with you now, for you have disrupted my birthday celebration." She felt like the words weren't coming out of her mouth, but as if Avira was channeling some kind of psychic spirit through her mouth.
He stepped forward and examined her closely, pressing his nose just in front of hers, peering deeply into her eyes. Everyone screamed from fright, and a loud ruckus commenced and did not die down until several guards proceeded to the disturbance in the castle grounds.
Wait to see what will commence in the next part....poor princess Sheng

Chapter 1 Part 4
Sheng had cried so much in all the days the sun had dawned on her. No, she didn't cry everyday, but she did cry so often that many looked down on her. She never really understood why she cried so much and so frequently, because sometimes she cried for no apparent reason. She always attributed it to her weird, foreign features. Perhaps it was because she was from some distant mysterious land in the Orient, that nobody knew nothing about, they couldn't even pronounce the name. When she was saved from that ruthless land she was brought to her kingdom as a gift to the queen, who was barren.
Sheng wondered also if her tears were because she had never known her real mother, but then she always thought how wicked of a creature she was to the queen to think such things. For her adopted mother, the queen, had always treated Sheng like her own flesh and blood. Sheng was always given the best in life, and everyday a kiss was set on her cheek, warming her to her very spirit. Why that very morning the queen had visited Sheng in the dining hall and given her a gift for her birthday.
"Sheng, my dearest,"the queen, Magdalena called out to her beloved adopted daughter.
"Yes, my queen?" Sheng turned back to her mother. Sheng was about to leave the dining hall, after enjoying a nearly perfectly prepared meal, only to find a wrapped present in the hand of the servant standing next to her mother across the hall. The dining hall was a long rectangular room with a ceiling that stood over 2 stories above them. Light fell in through the glass windows that had been put in after Lady Magdalena was made queen, just before her husband, the King was laid to rest. It was one of his last orders and it created the most colorful and wonderful light for the room, while keeping out some of the cold in the winter, as well as on the colder nights.
"I have a birthday present, for my dearest Sheng. Come here my sweet, let me get a better look at you."
Sheng pressed forward, stopping just in front of the queen. The queen took a step towards Sheng, without warning she slipped her arms around her and pulled Sheng tightly into a hug.
"I love you so much Sheng. I only wish that I could give you the stars if you should ask me."
Sheng wanted to cry, but she held back her tears, for she had made it a rule that she would never again cry in front of her mother. Her mother held her close for a moment then released her and kissed her left cheek. Then she let go.
"Alright open your present." The queen turned to her servant and waved her hand. The servant carried the gift to the long main dining table, which was nearly as long as the hall itself. This was the table where the queen, her entourage, and her honored guests ate at whenever there was a great feast or celebration. When Sheng approached the table she noticed that it had already been set up for a feast and she knew partially what her dinner plans consisted of.
On the table sat a wooden and leather bound box in the shape of a square, with a floral arrangement on the top in simple and light blues and reds. She looked at it and realized how hard of a time the servant must have been having as he carried it. She raised her eyes to him and smiled duly in his direction. He looked up and his eyes shot down to the ground in fear. Sheng was often looked in this manner, which was the reason for her normal temperament. She turned back to the gift, examining it closer. She could tell the queen was still standing watching her. On the side was a latch and ring that was obviously meant to hold a lock. Sheng flipped up the latch and opened the chest, which opened soft of like a big leather bound book.
Inside she found a very fine wool cloak, which was on top of a tunic made of material that Sheng had never felt or seen before. It was the softest material she had ever touched. They were both not darkish blue colors, which was a very abnormal color for her to be given. There was also a locket that she picked up. It was made of gold that remarkably appeared like silver and had some strange markings on it. Sheng realized it was impossible to open. She looked at her mother.
The queen spoke. "That locket was on with you when you in your possession when you given to me. The markings are writing of the Orient."
"Can I wear it mother?"
"Yes, of course, 'tis a beautiful locket. I fancy to see such a thing gracing your neckline."
"Thank you, mother, my queen."
"Would you stop calling me that?"
"Which..."
"Just call me mother, that will do." A tear nearly broke from the queen's eye. She seemed distraught almost over something. Sheng approached her mother and gave her a hug this time.
"Thank you my beloved and beautiful daughter. Even though you are strange to be viewed, I see such beauty in your eyes and your glow that the rest of our kingdom probably does not. You have a beauty that is so much different than the rest. I hope you will never forget that."
"No thank you my beautiful mother and gracious queen."
"Ever so polite." The queen smiled.
"I was raised in the house of the Lady Magdalena, my politeness is a representative of her virtue and glory." Sheng kissed her mother's cheek. "Now I wonder why such a lady a great repute would buy her daughter such clothing. For a princess in her house is normally spectacled in purple and reds, never blues."
"Oh about that. I have been speaking to a fortune teller, who has told me that we should prepare for a long winter. I also spoke to a tailor who told me that these were the warmest of clothing, so I bought both of us pairs of the same thing. Yet, blue was all I could find. So alas we shall appear like peasants, but shall be warm like kings and queens, rather than appearing like kings and queens and freezing like some poor peasants. I shall make an announcement to the kingdom also, to prepare for a long winter. It should pain me to think that any peasant should freeze to death in my kingdom."
"Your grace is beyond that which all the other kings and queens together could not match."
"Your flattery is unnecessary, especially on your birthday. You have yet still one more gift in your chest."
"This heart is no gift."
"Not that chest," the queen waved her hand at Sheng's chest and then waved her hand's toward the chest that was lying open on the dining table, "that chest."
Sheng half-smiled and went back to the table. She looked through the chest and found a small flute with a rope tied to one end so that she could probably tie it to her dress or to whatever she wanted, in that way she could take it along with her wherever she might end up. She then thanked her mother one last time and the queen then left the dining hall. Sheng closed the chest and tried to lift it herself, but found it was really a rather heavy chest. The servant stepped forward and picked it up without Sheng even having to say a word.
"Yes, can you take this to my room?"
"What shall I do with the locket, my lady?"
"Oh I shall hold on to the locket." Sheng examined the locket again, which was still in her hand. The servant left her in the dining hall by herself.
.....Wait to find out what the queen doesn't know.

Chapter 1 Part 3
Sheng had finally climbed the top of the stairs in search for Avira. They were both 12 years old and had known each other for almost three years. Normally when a princess is in search for her servant she is either frustrated at the horrible job the servant did, or is in need of some more service. Sheng was never looking around for Avira for such a thing, because they had established that Sheng was independent and didn't need a servant, but only wanted a friend. This was why she was climbing the top of the stairs in search of Avira, because they were friends, but also because they were playing hide and seek. However Avira had decided it was hide and spook.
Sheng had just planted her foot on the top step and removed her hand from the railing, when in a flash of pure exuberance Avira jumped right out in front of Sheng from behind the wall to the left and their noses almost grazed. "Rahhhh!!!" she screamed. "Ahh!! Sheng screamed as she fell backward. Luckily Avira was so close to Sheng that she grabbed the hem of her dress in one hand, and had Sheng's hand in the other. Sheng had also clutched onto Avira, who was bracing herself so as not to fall, with one hand and put the same hand back on the railing. They both caught their balance and Avira pulled Sheng back up the steps, and they fell down on the ground at the top of the steps into each others arms. They breathed for a moment and then Avira started convulsing with laughter. Sheng was not in the mood to laugh. She instead got up and looked down the stairway, which composed of about 2 flights of stairs which she had just climbed, if she had fallen she would have most certainly died, or worse her face would have been mutilated and no boy would ever fall in love with her.
"That was like 6 or 7 years ago, just trust me." Avira peered into Sheng's soul, realizing what Sheng must have been thinking about.
"Okay. Okay. Show me already." Sheng was then yanked around to see the other side of the hedge. Her eyes grew to be ten feet tall.
"Surprise!" The crowd of the most splendid and beautiful women were standing right in front of a large gazebo that was sparkling white as the rays of the sun danced upon it. There were tables set up with tea cups and biscuits of every sort set against the railing. "Happy birthday!" They all shouted in unison, Avira joining them this time.
Sheng's mouth fell open, as all the girls went inside the gazebo, Avira pulled Sheng with her into it and set her down at a table at what seemed to be the back. She didn't remember there being a gazebo in this pasture just in off the lake. The lake was about 5 yards or so away, glistening in the sun stretching out miles before her. She wanted to go and jump into it, that would be all the happy birthday she could ask for, however Avira always had her plans
As Sheng peered out on the lake that stretched out from the other exit of the gazebo, she heard music start pouring into the gazebo. She looked round and found a three piece band were stepping up onto the platform of the gazebo, one man with a violin, one man with a harp, and one with a flute. They began playing and then she noticed that all her friends were in some formation and had started dancing ballet. It was fantastic as she saw all the women pliƩd and spun, eventually jumping in sync with the music as if they were the three piece band playing the music with their movements. Avira was in the forefront always with the spotlight on her, even though there was never really a spotlight for her. Her movements were so angelic and graceful and so perfect. Sheng had always wanted to learn the ballet, but she had tried and couldn't get it. She figured it must be due to the limitations of her kind, whatever kind that she was.
She at least knew the dances and predicted Avira's movement until the finale that was something Sheng had never seen before. She clapped and hummed along with the music unsure of whether to cry, to jump up and hug her wonderful friends, or explode into a puffy cloud and float away to piece. She was just so happy, she didn't know what to do, but of course she broke her promise and her eyes became the lip of a waterfall.

Chapter 1 Part 2
Sheng a second later pulled Avira into her arms. She felt overwhelming joy and squeezed her tighter.
"Sheeeeng...I...can't...breeee..." Avira tried to speak.
"Oh sorry." Sheng let her go, but then pulled Avira's cheek to her face. "I love you."
"Uh, Sheng you know I'm not like that right?"
"No, no, no! I mean..." Sheng folded her hands together, staring at them.
Avira just laughed. Then finally she said, "Don't worry, your secret is safe with me." She then winked at Sheng.
"No, I'm not...one of those...what do they call them?"
"A lesbo."
"Yeah I'm not that. I just..."
"I know, Sheng! Is it a secret, or can I go and tell the whole world?"
"Yes, I mean, no, wait...I don't know." Avira pulled Sheng into her arms to hug her.
"Stop fretting my mistress."
"Stop calling me that! Everyone will start thinking we're lesbos."
Avira loved laughing, and enjoyed seeing a smile on her mistresses face. It was hard for Sheng to laugh, but she enjoyed it so much when she finally let loose and let even a chuckle out.
Avira laughed grabbing her face, and Sheng chuckled, while she twirled a finger in her hair.
"Now what were we doing?" Avira finally said when she found her breath again.
"We were going to go down to the lake. There was something you wanted to show me."
"Oh, yes."
"Are you sure it's safe?"
"Oh, yes, don't worry my missss Sheng."
Sheng gave her the mean eye.
"What? That's what I meant to say, just playing with you, my silly Sheng."
"I'm not silly." Her head was turned to her favorite tree. It was a giant tree, that was like a gigantic balloon at the end of the treetrunk that seemed more like a string. It was impressive how skinny the trunk was compared to how far the branches and the trees stretched out over the ground below and how far it went up into the sky. It was magically green, pink, and purple, in the middle of spring, with a luminescent shine glowing off of it. Sheng stopped, and continued grazing it with her eyes. She wanted so much just to jump into it like a squirrel or to fly up to the highest branch like a bird.
Avira grabbed her arm, "Come on, we can go climb in the tree afterwards." Avira started picking up speed, and a moment later they were running hand in hand.
They came to a large hedge wall, that ran blocking the lake for which they were headed. Before they came to the end, Avira pushed Sheng up against the hedge, just a little too hard. Sheng almost fell back into the hedge which towered at least 7 feet over them. Avira pulled Sheng back onto her feet before she was lost in the hedge.
"Sorry." Avira brushed Sheng off.
"What was that for?" Sheng was nearly about to cry.
"Hey, hey, no crying." Avira pointed a finger in Sheng's face. Sheng rubbed her left eye which was teary. "You have to promise me Sheng, that you're not going to cry. Not at all today."
"Why not?"
"Because I want you to be happy, especially on this day of all."
"Well, it's my..."
"I don't care Sheng. No crying. No crying at all...my lady. Or I'll call you my lady, and my mistress until next year."
"Then I'll get a new servant." Sheng tried to put her foot down.
"You and I both know we couldn't live without one another."
"True."
"Alright promise me now."
"Okay, okay, I promise. I won't cry."
"At all today. Come on say it."
"At all today."
"Alright, ready to see?"
"Yes, already!" Sheng eyes seemed highly annoyed. She was really just trying to act gruff, which she never was.
To be continued....stay tuned to find out what's behind the hedge down at the lake.
"Sheeeeng...I...can't...breeee..." Avira tried to speak.
"Oh sorry." Sheng let her go, but then pulled Avira's cheek to her face. "I love you."

Chapter 1 Part 1
So I'm blogging to start a story. A fairy tale story, I think, but who knows what it will become.
A woman tapped her friend and servant on the shoulder. Her friend's auburn hair tilted slightly as she turned to face Avira. Avira was a remarkably beautiful woman, everyone thought so, except of course Avira herself. Avira instead peered her eyes into Sheng's, which made Sheng so nervous that she had an uncontrollable fit causing her to throw her eyes to the ground. Sheng admired Avira all the same, because Sheng was never really treated as an important person at all. Never to anyone. Even though she was a princess, she was always a nobody. A friend of theirs, Rechel, often joked how if the two were switched randomly one day, the whole kingdom would rejoice. It wasn't that Sheng wasn't beautiful, but she was different, very different indeed.
Avira's admiration for Sheng was so thorough that even though Sheng often told Avira to only act as her servant around others, Avira continued to serve Sheng despite her wishes. Sheng never wanted to be a princess, and hated the title and wished that one day she could be switched with Avira. They loved each other and spent everyday together frollicking all over the vast plains of the castlegrounds of the kingdom of Brookly. It was the only place where Sheng felt constricted only by freedom. For she always felt so constricted and bound up that she often gazed at her wrists expecting to see scars or cuts and scrapes from her bonds.
Avira admired and loved every ounce of her fair princess, even though she was so different indubitably.
